Before You Use
- Use an ATS-friendly resume from the ATS Templates tab, or your own if it's already ATS-compatible.
- Not every suggestion will apply to your situation, use your judgment.
- Use the score as a directional guide, not an exact number. Small changes may not always move it.
- Reports take ~1-3 minutes to generate. tl;dr: you haven't timed out, it's just a long, detailed report!
- Follow me on LinkedIn & X! Would be nice if could follow me on other platforms as well, links in footer :)
Analysis
What's the best way to use the free tier scans?
Read the Before You Use section in the Analyze Resume tab before proceeding.
Save your Claude Sonnet 1 scan/week for big iterations & changes, and use Kimi for smaller day-to-day tweaks or to tailor to a particular job posting.
Kimi is really good and will be very helpful, but Claude tends to give much more detail (I also can't fund daily Claude Sonnet scans lol).
How long does it take to generate a feedback report?
It completely depends on the model you're using. It can take anywhere from instantly to ~5 minutes just to start seeing output.
For example, models like GPT-5.5 are extremely fast, while Kimi is more on the slower side.
On average ~1-3 minutes for a full report, so don't be scared if it feels like you timed out!
How is this free?
So far, this has been completely paid out of pocket. I've spent over $300 USD since launch purely on credits, but I see this as a way to give back to the community. I get daily messages & emails asking me to review CVs and resumes, and this was the best way I could do it at scale.
I've unfortunately had to decrease free limits quite a bit over time to keep funding the website, but I'm hoping to eventually find a token sponsor!
Which models work best?
In my experience, the flagship models for OpenAI and Claude have gotten me the best results (GPT-5.5, Claude Sonnet, Opus).. they're pretty fast at reasoning and output great results.
An honorable mention would be Kimi. At the moment I'm using Kimi 2.6 and I'd argue its feedback is very close to the OpenAI and Claude flagship models, but it's significantly slower at returning output. It is however approximately 5-6x cheaper to use, everything has its pros and cons!
How much does it cost if I use my own API key?
For Sonnet it's around ~$0.03 to ~$0.05 per scan.
For Haiku 4.5 it's around ~$0.01 to ~$0.02 per scan.
For Kimi 2.6 it's around ~$0.01 per scan.
So with Sonnet you can get roughly 100 scans for $5, with Haiku roughly 100 scans for $1-$2, and with Kimi roughly 100 scans for $1. Super cheap!
I strongly recommend using your own API key if you can, to keep the free scans available for those who need them.
